Jim Pospisil is a singer songwriter who has been performing since the 1970's,
as a soloist and with various bands. His syle has ranged from folk, rock and blues to jazz,
classical, electronic and ambient.
Though his main instrument is guitar, he also plays keyboards, harmonicas, flute, mandolin, and dulcimer.
In the 1980's he released three recordings of electronic music, gaining exposure on college radio, particularly WFMU and WVKR.This music combined synthesizers with acoustic instruments, creating a rich blend of melodic and harmonic textures. Aspects of folk and rock were combined in a symphonic like scope.
Beginning in 1990, Jim released "Songs from the Periphery", a collection of original songs that were thought provoking yet deeply personal, featuring acoustic arrangements with well crafted lyrics. He followed this with "Acre Bay" released in 1994, which continued in this syle, with more layered arrangements and some guest musicians.
Throughout the '90s and to this day, "Pos" has been performing at coffeehouses and concert halls throughout the tri state area, appearing on the bill with Leo Kottke, Dave Mason, Priscilla Herdman, and many others. He also performs with the bands Bucket of Mud and The Feds. He continues to write songs that can make you laugh, cry, or think. Sometimes all at once.
